It was a great experience

Sixteen years ago, Pat Owens a licensed practical nurse working at Somerset Hospital, thought she had indigestion.  At the urging of her fellow workers, she had a check up and eventually a heart catheterization to unblock several arteries.

It was a day in early October 2013 that Pat woke up in the middle of the night with chest pains. From her past experience, she knew it was more than indigestion.  She went to the Emergency Department at Somerset Hospital and was diagnosed with a heart attack.

Within 30 minutes of the diagnosis, she was taken to Somerset Hospital’s Cardiac Catheterization Lab where Cardiologist Dr. Pradeep Nair performed the catheterization.  Dr. Nair found a 90 percent blockage, cleared the artery and placed a stent.

"The Emergency Department staff and Catheterization Lab staff were very nice.  I can’t say enough about them and Dr. Pradeep Nair, states Pat.  "He not only put me at ease, he provided my family with an explanation of the situation.  I was happy with the experience and that fact that I’m here talking about it today."

Dr. Pradeep Nair is shown with patient Pat Owens in the Somerset Hospital Cardiac Catheterization Lab.  Dr. Pradeep Nair and Dr. V.K. Nair of Somerset Cardiology offer the latest in treatments for cardiac care.  They are now accepting new patients.  Call 814-445-7101.
