The Somerset Hospital Board of Directors has announced the appointments of the following leadership positions, effective Monday, March 17, 2014.

Craig Saylor, MS, FACHE will serve as Chief Executive Officer of both Somerset Hospital and the Somerset Hospital Foundation. Saylor started his career with Somerset Hospital in 1982 as a registered Respiratory Therapist (RT) under the National Board for Respiratory Care. Craig also holds the credential of Pulmonary Function Technologist from the National Board of Respiratory Care. In the years to follow, Saylor served as the department director for cardiopulmonary, case management, quality services and numerous other clinical service lines. For the past five years, Saylor has served as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Somerset Hospital. Saylor holds a Bachelor of Science from Liberty University and a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix. He is a Certified Green Belt - Lean and Six Sigma, is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality and holds the status of Fellow under the American College of Healthcare Executives. Craig serves Johnstown Area Regional Industries as a member of the Board of Directors and is the Vice President of the Somerset County Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Saylor is also a Surveyor for the College of American Pathologists. Over the years, he has been very involved in the Cambria Somerset Council for the Education of Health Professionals at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown (UPJ), presently serving as Chair. He also serves on the faculty of UPJ and the Allied Health Advisory Council. Craig also serves as the Council Chair for Carpenter Park Church and is a member of the Board of Directors of Sonrise Christian Ministries (formerly Somerset New Day). Craig has been an active contributor to healthcare quality legislative policy, serving on the Board of Pennsylvania Healthcare Quality Alliance, a division of the Hospital Association of Pennsylvania.

Andrew Rush, MBA, MPT will serve as Chief Executive Officer for Somerset Health Services Inc. In addition, Rush will serve Somerset Hospital as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Rush started his career with Somerset Hospital in 2000, serving as the Director of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Services. He continued his career at Somerset Hospital as the Director of various service lines including occupational health, orthopedics, sports medicine, and community outreach. For the past five years, Rush served Somerset Hospital as the Vice President of Physician Practices. Rush holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from the University of Pittsburgh, a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Saint Francis University and a Master of Business Administration, Health Care Administration from Saint Francis University. Prior to starting a career at Somerset Hospital, Andrew served as the Director of NovaCare Rehabilitation, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, National Strength and Conditioning Association, and the Medical Fitness Association. He also serves as a member of the Allied Health Advisory Council for the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, the Exercise Physiology Advisory Board for Saint Francis University and is a member of the Somerset Area Little League Board of Directors. Andrew also holds the credential of CSCS, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and will begin work on the path to fellowship with the American College of Healthcare Professionals this spring.


Matthew Kociola will serve as Chief Financial Officer, Senior Vice President, Somerset Hospital. Matt is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He started his career at Somerset Hospital in 1989 as the Director of Accounting, later serving as Finance Director and most recently as Assistant Vice President, Finance. Prior to his work at Somerset Hospital, Kociola served Coopers & Lybrand, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as a staff auditor/accountant. Matt serves as the Vice Chair of the Somerset County Redevelopment Authority and is a member of the Hospital Financial Management Association.
