New Medical Director for Wound Care Center

The Advanced Wound Care Center at Somerset Hospital has announced that Dr. Peter VanDerMeid has been named the medical director of the center effective March 31st.

Dr. VanDerMeid will be responsible for reviewing patient care and results and providing oversight and guidance on policies and procedures. He is a graduate of Eastern Virginia Medical School of Norfolk, Virginia and completed his family practice residency with the United State Army at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Dr. VanDerMeid has provided family medical care with the United States Army Health Clinic in Manheim, Germany and at two family medical care facilities in Virginia. Most recently, he provided wound care services and supervised hyperbaric oxygen treatments at the Rappahannock Wound Healing Center of Fredricksburg, Virginia.

"My treatment philosophy is to treat wounds early and efficiently to minimize complications and optimize outcome," states Dr. VanDerMeid. "We balance a practical approach to wound care with progressive options such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy, a sophisticated technology that speeds the delivery of healing oxygen to the body’s tissues."

The Advanced Wound Care Center at Somerset Hospital is staffed with specialists who provide evaluation, individualized treatment plans and coordinated care on an outpatient basis.
