Somerset Hospital will be offering a new childhood obesity treatment program, through the Children’s Wellness Institute. B.E. S.T.R.O.N.G. is a pediatric weight management and treatment program for children ages 6 to 14, who are overweight or obese. This comprehensive, family based 8-week program offers instruction from a registered dietitian, exercise physiologist and mental health professional.
B.E. S.T.R.O.N.G. is a lifestyle management program, rather than a diet. It shows kids how to eat healthy, move more and feel good about themselves. Overall goals of the program focus on an increase in fruit/vegetable consumption, increase in physical activity and a decrease in screen time. For more information, or to sign your child up for the B.E. S.T.R.O.N.G. program, please call 814-443-5735. Shown in the photo: front row, Mike Seibert and back row, Brooke McKenzie, Sarah Deist and Robyn Lukas.
